Getting Started
ctrlKit empower creators to build and integrate devices and sensors to the cloud, controling them with our Apps and services, setup and configured your way. Devices and sensors are integrated with Raspberry Pi based agents (or other Linux based IoT platforms), these Agents are using our free open source ctrlKit software to securly connect with the ctrlKit cloud, send and recieve data continuesly. Once connected, the Agent and it's devices and sensors can be monitored, controlled, scheduled and automated to your requirements. All Agents and connected Apps configuration is done from the cloud using our management platform.
To start, follow these steps:
Step 1 - Create an Account
Create an account, use account setup to set your name, timezone and choose your plan, set your phone number if you would like to use SMS notification with your Apps.
Step 2 - Build an Agent
Get a Raspberry Pi and connect your prefered devices and sensors to it. There are many options available on Amazon and Ebay and well as a variaty of physical and online electronics stores. Instractions are available in our inspiration projects, as well as on the open web.
Step 3 - Install and connect your Agent
Download and install Raspbian OS, set it up and connect to your Wi-Fi network. Install the ctrlKit Agent Library while providing your new Agent name and key, the key is mandatory to securly connect your Agent to the {{companybrand}} cloud, if you do not provide a name, the Pi serial number will be used. Detailed instructions are available here.
Step 4 - Setup your Agent
Use Setup to add and configure the new Agent, make sure you give it the same name as you have configured on your Pi. If you have already completed Step 3 above and provided the key, your agent will be automatically discovered and available for configuration. Configure the diffrent devices and sensors connected to your Agent, detailed instructions are available here.
Step 5 - Add Apps
Each Agent automaticly creates an App using the Control App class, you may disable it by adding app.hide to the Agent configuration. To set additional Apps for each Agent, change the App class or create Apps that connect with multiple Agents, configure your App or add new ones in Setup. Apps are only available to Gold and Premium subscribers. detailed instructions are available here.
